Taylor Jenkins was fired as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies which was a little surprising to some people. The Grizzlies were 44-29 and tied for fourth place in the Western Conference at the time the front office decided to pull the trigger. Some coach firings seem inexplicable. Mike Budenholzer led the Atlanta Hawks to a record 60 wins and won coach of the year that same season (2014-2015), but the relationship soured between him and the front office. They parted ways in 2018, probably due to his 17-22 postseason record with the franchise. He went on to win an NBA Championship with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks also fired Budenholzer after a first-round exit despite him picking up another coach of the year trophy in 2019. In the NBA, coaches always seem to be on the hot seat and shoulder the blame for whatever goes wrong in an organization. Frank Vogel, Darvin Ham, Nate McMillan and the list goes on. So, for Jenkins, who many think did a remarkable job despite his team battling injuries and his coaches getting fired right from under him, it's part of the business. Taylor Jenkins was nominated for coach of the year and was ranked 17th best coach by CBS sports. More than likely, he'll get some job offers.
