There have been four candidates mentioned repeatedly as contenders for the MVP of the NFL. Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has had an impressive season. His name has been tossed around as a front runner for the MVP award. Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, has already been eliminated from playoff contention in a head-to-head battle with the aforementioned Josh Allen. Lamar Jackson has had another spectacular season where he padded the stats and already has two MVP trophies on his shelf. Joe Burrow led the league in passing, with 4918 yards. Among the QB's mentioned, Josh Allen does have the least amount of passing yards with 3,731. The only player that's not a quarterback who has been thrown into the discussion is Saquon Barkley. Barkley has rushed for over 2,000 yards this season and had the chance to break the NFL single season rushing record but was held out of the final game of the year for fears of injury. Despite Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, being a rookie, and shoe-in for Rookie of the Year which he did win, it's surprising that his name hasn't come up as much in the MVP race. The 2024-2025 NFL MVP was announced on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the NFL Honors ceremony.
