Directed by Jonny Campbell (Westworld), Cold Storage is a riotous sci-fi horror comedy based on the 2019 novel by legendary screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park). Releasing on February 13, 2026, the film stars Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell as Teacake and Naomi, two low-level employees at a self-storage facility that was built atop a decommissioned military base. Their mundane night shift spirals into a "body-bursting" nightmare when a temperature breach causes a prehistoric, mutating fungus to escape its seal. As the parasitic organism begins to infect everything in its path, turning victims into gooey, brain-controlled hosts, the duo is forced to team up with Robert Quinn (Liam Neeson), a grizzled, retired bioterror operative who previously contained the threat and knows that its escape could trigger a global extinction event.
The film distinguishes itself by blending visceral "splatstick" gore with a sharp, comedic tone that subverts typical post-apocalyptic tropes. Featuring a powerhouse supporting cast including Vanessa Redgrave, Lesley Manville, and Sosie Bacon, the narrative balances high-stakes tension with the absurdity of office politics under fire. Campbell utilizes a mix of practical effects and a de-saturated visual palette to bring Koepp's "gross-out" creature designs to life, resulting in a fast-paced thriller that is equal parts terrifying and hilarious. With its R-rating and lean 99-minute runtime, Cold Storage serves as a timely and irreverent meditation on corporate negligence and human resilience, positioning itself as a standout popcorn flick for the early 2026 season.
