When two people of the opposite sex, with the same sexual preference get married, it is known as a "lavender marriage." Apparently, it's the latest trend though it has been around quite a while. A lavender marriage is a marriage of convenience. It is said that Rock Hudson, a star in the Golden Age of Hollywood that was later found to be gay, married Phyllis Gates to conceal his sexual orientation. Gates was said to believe the marriage was always genuine. Marriage can be advantageous for many reasons, but benefits may be the most attractive. Opportunistic people have undermined the sanctity of marriage to use it for other purposes. For instance, people have been getting married for years as a path to U.S. citizenship. Some couples are trying to make a marriage last for 10 years in order to get social security benefits. Spouses can enroll into each other’s health insurance which could save them a fortune.  Married couples are privy to a host of other benefits that a single person just can't get. Another great benefit of marriage may be what is saved in taxes. And as always, people do marry for money. There are gold diggers galore, both male and female, and rich people that marry even richer people.

Do you think it's wrong to get married for the benefits?
