The 2025 film The Naked Gun is a comedy reboot and legacy sequel starring Liam Neeson as Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the original, hilariously incompetent detective. Frank Jr., a gung-ho but profoundly clueless cop in the LAPD's special Police Squad unit, must step up to solve a major case to prevent his unit from being shut down due to his chaotic antics. The investigation begins when Frank Jr. meets the mysterious and attractive crime novelist Beth Davenport (Pamela Anderson), who convinces him that her brother's car crash was actually a murder.
Their bumbling investigation uncovers a far larger plot by tech billionaire Richard Cane (Danny Huston), who has stolen a device called the P.L.O.T. (Primordial Law Of Toughness) Device. Cane plans to activate the device at a massive public event, which will revert humanity to a state of mindless, violent anarchy, allowing him and his wealthy associates to retreat to a secure bunker and rule the remaining chaotic world. Frank Jr., with his partner Ed Hocken Jr. (Paul Walter Hauser), must then race against time, navigating a non-stop barrage of visual gags, slapstick, and absurd situations to stop the villain's insane plan and save the world from being devolved into pure chaos.
