Are you facing a food shortage?

Posted 10/10/2026

If you are facing hunger, there are some organizations around that would like to help. We've compiled a list in hopes of directing you to someone that can assist.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a Methodist Christian church and an international charitable organisation aligned with the Wesleyan-Holiness movement. It was founded and headquartered in London, England. Depending on where you live, the Salvation Army has some locations open 24 hours a day that may be able to provide an emergency meal. Follow this link, https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/, click "Find Help," and only check "Food Pantries and Hunger Relief." Enter your zip code and you'll be able to see how far you are from a location. We must note that most locations that we found providing emergency meals are around major U.S. cities.

Feeding America

Feeding America is a United States-based non-profit organization that is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies. Follow this link, https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank, enter your zip code, and click "Search Results." We found that after clicking "Search Results," clicking "See Nearby Pantries" gave more information. We must note that some food banks require an appointment to be scheduled and most operate during certain hours.

You may also call their Hunger Free America National Hotline: 1-866-348-6479 (English) or 1-877-842-6273 (Spanish)
FoodPantries.org

FoodPantries.org operates an independent directory listing more than 16,694 food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks across the United States, though it is not affiliated with any government agency or nonprofit organization. Follow this link, https://www.foodpantries.org/, enter your state, and click "Search Now." Scroll down and you will see a list of cities in your selected state. You can then look for the city closest to you on the page that pops up. On the same page, you may also "Find Closest Food Pantries to An Address" by entering the address and city. We must note that some food banks require an appointment to be scheduled and most operate during certain hours. Also, be prepared because some pantries require proof of residence (mortgage statement, lease, or utility bill in the recipient's name), picture ID/driver license, and an application. Call before you go.

*Organizations listed are not affiliated with, nor do they endorse Surveyours.com and vice versa.
