If you're a Millennial, you may have heard of a CD or DVD. However, you may have never seen a cassette tape or VHS tape unless you came across a video on YouTube. But these were hard copies of our media that kept us entertained. In the event of a power outage or an internet blackout, we don't have some of the same advantages as generations before us. Today, if the internet is down, that's it for most people - no music, no movies, no television. In the past, if we had batteries, people could at least pop on some headphones and listen to a tune if they couldn't play the radio. Even if you have a generator and a power converter, that won't bring the internet back up, but a VCR, DVD player, CD player, or cassette deck would still work. Television used to come through the air for free as long as you had a device that could receive the signal and display the images and sound. With advances in technology, we may have forgotten some basic common-sense things. If the internet is down and/or the power is out, there is no way to get our information or to be entertained. People would begin flocking to their car stereos in droves. If cars become totally electric, that'll be an entirely different story altogether.
