The language of the Second Amendment to the Constitution may be a little confusing. It states, "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It isn't that clear as to whom will regulate this militia or who comprises this militia - we assume it's the people of the United States. However, it is clear that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." We didn't happen to have a Constitutional lawyer at our disposal when posing this question, but the intentions of the Second Amendment appear to nullify any argument against the right to bear arms. Arguably, a convicted felon still possesses the right to bear arms if they are a U.S. citizen. Mass shootings were nearly an everyday occurrence in the year 2023. Our research yielded results, putting the number at an upwards of 632. That averages out to 1.7 a day, but one didn't happen every single day. At the lower end of the spectrum, the number is 604 mass shootings with specifically defined criteria. Consequently, gun control is a topic of discussion and a concern among many in the country.
