The moments afterwards lead up to hear death and the death of her unborn child, as Ms. Young was 6 months pregnant at the time. Ms. Young was sitting inside of a car outside the store when a staff member approached the nearby police and accused Young of stealing. Ms. Young was immediately ordered from her vehicle once the allegations were made. Ms. Young did not comply with the policeman's order and turned her steering wheel to the right and slowly moved forward. However, as the vehicle came forward, Officer Grubb discharged his firearm, striking the suspected thief in the chest, killing her. Police Officer Connor Grubb was indicted for murder on August 14, 2024, nearly a year after the tragic incident. Laws were instituted in hopes of creating a safer society and they also exist to prevent tyranny. There were several different possible outcomes without the loss of life being one of them. Crime isn't desirable in society, and lawmakers didn’t think it a good idea for police officers to be the judge, jury, and executioner either - that's why there is due process.
