America spent 12.8% of the Fiscal Year 2023 U.S. federal budget on defense.... Click here
The scope of U.S. defense spending is quite astounding with a GDP of 23.32 trillion dollars as of 2021. If the same percentage was spent in 2021, the U.S. would have had $3,450,000,000,000 in defense expenditures and the number is growing. Bear in mind, though, the U.S. military budget pays the salaries, training, and health care of uniformed and civilian personnel, as well as retirement and nonretirement benefits, maintains arms, equipment and facilities, funds operations, and develops and buys new items. However, if a person earns $100,000 per year, that's the equivalent of spending $12,800 per year on defense, if they didn't pay any tax. An arsenal is defined as a collection of weapons, and one could accumulate a considerable array of weapons if they were dedicated to investing nearly %13 of their income on that endeavor - an activity that is deemed criminal for the most part. Often, when discovered, individuals in possession of several assault rifles, multiple handguns, and stockpiles of ammunition are jailed.

Does the U.S. need to cut military spending?
