America allocated 12.8% of the Fiscal Year 2023 U.S. federal budget on defense.... Click Here.
The scope of U.S. defense spending is quite astounding, with the number earmarked for 2023 being 1.52 trillion dollars. Bear in mind, though, the U.S. military budget pays the salaries, training, and health care of uniformed and civilian personnel, as well as retirement and nonretirement benefits, maintains arms, equipment, and facilities, funds operations, and develops and buys new items. However, if a person earns $100,000 per year, that's the equivalent of spending $12,800 per year on defense if they didn't pay any tax. An arsenal is defined as a collection of weapons, and one could accumulate a considerable number of weapons if they were dedicated to investing nearly 13% of their income on that endeavor - an activity that would most likely get you flagged by law enforcement. The logic behind tracking gun purchases, according to the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives), is an attempt to combat the illegal movement of firearms. If an individual makes too many transactions involving firearms at once or within a certain amount of time, it triggers the need for a form to be completed, which in turn places the individual on a watchlist because the governmentβs suspicions have been aroused. Maybe U.S. citizens should be a little more concerned about the staggering amount of funds that the government spends in the name of defense.
